Stroll with an African Elephant

Minimum age : 5 | Duration : 2h30
No need to go abroad to meet an elephant anymore. We offer you an ethical ride in the company of the only African elephant in Europe which moves in total freedom.

Much more than a simple encounter, Muriel Bec, recognized specialist in animal training for the audiovisual world for 30 years, invites you to actively participate in these exceptional moments of sharing.

In more detail, you can interact with the specialist animal keeper, prepare a packed lunch for the elephant, meet Beiby and distribute the packed lunch.

What to expect

We welcome you around a coffee, the safety rules will be presented to you by your guide. You will participate in the preparation of the baskets of treats that you will give to Beiby followed by a photoshoot. We will then go for a walk in his company in freedom in the woods and meadows of our property. Finally, you will attend his bath depending on Beiby's desires.

Beiby's story

Beiby, a 36-year-old African elephant from Kenya, orphaned by poaching, was taken in to an elephant orphanage along with other of her fellows, unfortunately too many. There, Beiby met with her adoptive father. She was 2 years old. An elephant identifies a person as the one to whom it will give its trust and respect. Conversely, her adoptive father welcomed her as a member of his family, she grew up in total freedom with the eldest elephant son of the same age.

She was sick when he took her in, with a tumor under her trunk that was growing and eventually would have prevented her from feeding. She also had a deformity in her left leg. He brought her to Basel Zoo in Switzerland where a veterinarian, expert in wildlife and elephant specialist, worked to save her.

Beiby had a richer artistic journey than many other elephants. She is very talented and very intelligent and always respectful of those around her. That's why Muriel Bec chose her to join her family of animal actors.

Our commitment: We are committed to saving elephants around the world, and more particularly in Zimbabwe, by donating part of the proceeds to the Zewact association. Created in 2017, the association has recovered a herd of 10 elephants, previously used by travel agencies for elephant back safaris...

Elephants can now enjoy a 3,000 hectare reserve where they are protected. The association is setting up mediation work with local populations so that they learn to live with elephants. The basic work is to promote a coexistence between the interests of animals and those of humans, and that the latter are more tolerant of their neighbors.

Our leitmotif: "Know them in order to understand them, understand them in order to love them, love them in order to defend them".
